PEMAC is a national not for profit association providing global leadership, education and certification in world class maintenance,
reliability and physical asset management practices.
Over the last 20 years our focus has been on the development and growth of our signature Maintenance Management Professional Certificate program. We are dedicated to remaining leaders in education and certification and are currently working on that important question, "What's Next?" for continuing professional development in the field of maintenance, reliability and physical asset management.
"Through concepts such as the 'Maintenance Maturity Grid' the MMP Program really helped me to analyze where we are as a team and where we need to go to achieve maintenance excellence. I think this is the key to being able to call myself maintenance professional. In addition, having a clear understanding of the relationships between Maintenance, Operations, Human Resources and Finance really helps our team work together with others to create a good strategy with priorities based on return on investment for the company."

Our Maintenance Management Professional Education & Certification Program is offered by 14 teaching institutions across Canada. Completion of the program leads to the MMP professional designation.

MainTrain is developed and produced by the Plant Engineering and Maintenance Association of Canada (PEMAC) - Canada's national not-for-profit association providing global leadership, education and certification in world-class maintenance, reliability and asset management practices. The next conferences will be held at the Sheraton Cavalier in Calgary, Alberta. November 18th - 21st, 2013.
Through participation at Chapter events you can meet people who do a similar job to you for another company or in another industry and get a fresh view point on challenges you are currently facing. In addition, if you are looking for work or looking for new team members, Chapter events are a great way to connect with people and companies with a view to professionalism.
Education and training is also a great networking opportunity. Many participants in the Maintenance Management Professional Certifice program state that meeting and learning with other professionals was one of the key benefits of taking an MMP course.

In May PEMAC became a member of the Global Forum on Maintenance and Asset Management (GFMAM), an international association of associations like ours. One of the objectives of the (GFMAM) is to facilitate the exchange and alignment of maintenance and asset management knowledge and practices. Towards this aim the Certification Project has been initiated to research the certification schemes managed by GFMAM member professional associations, compare and describe them.
The executive summary from our point of view is that PEMAC's Maintenance Management Professional certification targets the same types of knowledge and level of responsibility as the "Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional" administered by the "Society of Maintenance and Reliability Professionals" (SMRP) from the United States as well as the "European Expert in Maintenance Management" (EFNMS) administered by the "European Federation of National Maintenance Societies". Though similar in what they represent a person knows and can do, the systems used by each association for developing and assessing competence differ. PEMAC has defined a training program whereas the other two societies have identified a body of knowledge and set exams leaving training development to other providers.
An overview of the Certification Project results to date and a detailed presentation of the complete list of member certifications was published today on the on the GFMAM News page. You can learn more here: http://gfmam.org/news.html
