There is still time for municipalities across Canada to provide their expertise and participate in an important research survey that will inform a project created to help advance “maintenance readiness” during capital programming/project and equipment acquisition phases. 

• Is your municipality set up for success as it relates to maintenance and asset management?
• Is the data in various EAMs, CMMSs, work order systems or data- based/spreadsheet systems set up well and adding value to your municipality?
  

PEMAC and Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) have partnered together with a group of experienced subject-matter practitioners, on an initiative focused on leveraging asset master data and information. Municipalities of all sizes are encouraged to participate in this research related to how asset management, maintenance, and reliability data and information is collected; when it is collected; and how it is set up in the various systems across municipalities.

We are seeking input from organizations that have had success with master data management, as well as from those that have found challenges.

This project is an important step toward improving asset management across Canada and supporting organizations in realizing better value for their assets. The information collected will provide a better understanding of the current Canadian landscape, and allow the group to make recommendations that can improve the way municipalities are managing their various systems, towards improvement in asset management and maintenance management across municipalities.

Your experience and input on this topic are very important. We ask that you take about an hour to complete this survey, as we work to develop a better snapshot of asset master data while compiling suggested improvements and changes. 

This research will support the development of a training course that will be delivered to municipal practitioners by TMU in the Summer and again in the Fall of 2023. The information gathered will also aid in the development of a whitepaper and business case that will increase the profile, understanding, benefits, and requirements for asset master data and information readiness during an asset’s acquisition phase before it is passed over to the operations and maintenance phase.

Funding that PEMAC has received through the Municipal Asset Management Program (MAMP), which is delivered by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and funded by the Government of Canada, is supporting this project.
