Certifying Body

The CAMA exam and associated CAMA certification has been developed and is offered by the World Partners in Asset Management, a partnership of non-profit professional associations including the Asset Management Council (Australia), ABRAMAN (Brazil), Gulf Society for Maintenance & Reliability (Gulf Region), JAAM (Japan), SAAMA (Southern Africa) and PEMAC (Canada).

About the Certification

Through ISO 17021-5, the International Standards Organization has recognized that individuals assessing or auditing organizations' Asset Management systems to ISO 5500x require background knowledge in Asset Management.

The goal of the Certified Asset Management Assessor certification process, therefore, is to help individuals who are interested in serving as asset management assessors to demonstrate they have the necessary asset management knowledge and experience, as well as knowledge of ISO 5500x, to serve as part of an ISO 5500x certification-of-organizations process.

By extension CAMA certification of individuals will help organizations wishing to certify themselves to ISO 5500x to identify credible assessors and auditors. Note that the focus of the certification is subject area knowledge. Generic knowledge of ISO processes, assessment and auditing is not covered by this exam.

CAMA certification is granted upon successful completion of a 2 hour exam and demonstration of relevant experience (minumum 5 years). The exam has been designed to test for knowledge defined in the Global Forum on Maintenance and Asset Management (GFMAM) document, “GFMAM ISO 55001 Auditor/Assessor Specification as well as the GFMAM Landscape.“.

The Certified Asset Management Assessor (CAMA) Certification exam is available in English, French, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish.

Equivalence

World Partners in Asset Management (WPiAM)  recognizes other asset management qualifications as equivalent to the CAMA exam.

Successful completion of PEMAC's Asset Management Professional (AMP) program courses are recognized by WPiAM as equivalent to successfully completing the CAMA exam. Practitioners who have completed AMP Course 1 through 5, or the full AMP program, Course 1 through 6, who wish to pursue the CAMA certification can provide proof of course completion to WPiAM, along with the required professional experience and fees.

If the equivalent certificate is more than six months old applicants will need to show Continuing Professional Development of 50 hours per three years (or pro rated) since its date of issue. All CAMA Certificants must have a minimum of five years working experience in Asset Management, and demonstrate this by uploading their current CV and Professional Profile.

For more details on equivalent asset management qualifications, and to learn more about the continuing professional development requirements to maintain the certification visit the WPiAM website. To apply for the CAMA certification through equivalency, register and complete the online profile on the WPiAM website, provide proof of equivalency and experience, and pay the application fees.
