Recap - GTA Chapter Professional Development and Tour

On the 29th of November, the GTA chapter professional development event was held at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. The goal of the event was to develop the knowledge of PEMAC associated professionals while giving them the opportunity to network among the local community.

The event started with a tour around the ACE research and testing facility. The participants visited the chambers and technology for climatic, structural durability and life-cycle testing. This facility includes one of the largest and most sophisticated climatic wind tunnels (CWT) on the planet.  

Later Jesús Sifonte presented on RCM-R and its four sub-processes and facilitated the discussion of the elements of each one to enable Asset Management. Jesús is a regular conference speaker, consultant, instructor, and coach on reliability and maintenance. He is the creator of RCM-R®, an optimized approach of the original RCM methodology as conceived by the aircraft industry back in the ’70s, and co-author of Reliability Centered Maintenance - Re-engineered: Practical Optimization of the RCM Process with RCM-R®.

Delegates later joined for dinner and received updates on chapter activities. It was a good day for networking since there were many participants across industries and disciplines. When asked, Erika Mazza (Vice President of the GTA Chapter) said 'the event was fantastic! The tour of the ACE facilities was enlightening as we were introduced to high tech on control climate testing and more. The presentation by Jesús Sifonte was full of interesting insights about how RCM-R enables Asset Management; the dinner was indulgent and the networking valuable.'
