You can’t turn the TV or radio on for more than 30 minutes, without hearing something about climate change, usually bad news. Let’s talk about good news! What are some of the things happening within Canada, and Atlantic Canada, that we can feel positive about! Specifically, around buildings. What are the main challenges and how are they being solved?

Shawn Chisholm, Program Lead - Commercial Sector, Energy Efficiency Services, NB Power
I am from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and left like many others to further my education and seek out work in Ontario. After 13 years in Ontario, we made our way back East to raise our young family and landed in NB.
The 13 years in Ontario I worked primarily in the telecommunications and aviation sector where in the end prior to leaving I was the production manager at an aerial guidance company. Throughout the 20 years here in NB I worked in a wide range of companies from being an aircraft mechanic with the province’s fire bombers to doing electrical design with an electrical engineering firm to now being with NB Power as the commercial sector lead of the efficiency programs.
All that being said maintenance, reliability and an energy efficiency has been front and center in my regular work day since I started. The key as I see it is to embrace new technology without forgetting the lessons learned along the way to improve the lives we live and that of out future generations.
