**NEW COURSE**
PEMAC Asset Management Association, in partnership with Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), and a group of dedicated volunteer subject matter experienced practitioners, have developed Leveraging Asset Master Data and Information, a 6 week, live online course that will support municipalities as they leverage their asset master data and information, to improve their maintenance management programs and operational readiness.
Participants will:
- Be equipped with the practical knowledge and skills to optimize asset maintenance management and reliability through the timely provision of resources and effective use of asset data and information.
- Learn how to leverage data analytics, maintenance management, and reliability good practices to minimize asset lifecycle costs and risk exposure across infrastructure portfolios.
- Learn the importance of asset master data, and how managing this data is essential for better decision-making and as a key foundational requirement for Asset Management.
The applied learning will save your municipality money, improve service delivery and reduce risk over the lifecycle of infrastructure, assets and equipment.
Instructor-led lessons will be accompanied by independent work that will enable participants to assess and apply as they learn.
"The course provided our cross-functional team with a deeper understanding of our gaps and an application for collecting and sharing the right data across our organization throughout the lifecycle of our assets", noted participant Barrett Froc, Certificated Asset Management Professional, Senior Project Management Engineer, City of Saskatoon. "Learning to effectively leverage our asset master data and information between the operations, maintenance and reliability group, the capital team, together with other departments, will allow us to make better decisions across the organization."

- Director, Manager, or Supervisor within Capital Projects
- Capital Project Manager, Capital Coordinator or Inspector

The course results and findings from an important research study will be organized into a whitepaper and business case entitled: "Master Data Configuration During Acquisition for Maintenance and Operational Readiness" which will serve as an effective tool for municipal practitioners to utilize.
This initiative will help to advance "maintenance readiness" during capital programming/project and equipment acquisition phases. Regardless of their participation in the course, municipalities of all sizes are encouraged to participate in this research related to how asset management, maintenance and reliability data and information is collected, when it is collected, and how it is set up in the various systems across the municipality.
We are seeking input from organizations that have had success with asset master data management, as well as from those who have found challenges. This information collected will provide a better understanding of the current Canadian landscape, and how the group will make recommendations that can improve the way municipalities are managing their various systems, towards improvement in asset management and maintenance management across municipalities.
Municipal practitioners can complete this survey individually or collaborate with others in their organizations. It will take about an hour to complete and respond. The survey deadline has been extended and there is still an opportunity to participate.
