What if diversity and inclusion were more than what we can physically identify? What if the key to true results from diversity and inclusion initiatives wasn’t ticking boxes to ensure you have met the letter of the law? Lastly, what if diversity applied not just to affirmative action but to how your people and departments work together and the results of that collaboration (or lack thereof)? This presentation will answer these questions and discuss a framework for building a culture that not only is diverse, inclusive, equitable, and inviting but also enables synergy and productivity within your facility. We will discuss the BRIDGE principles and then apply them in a way that enables engineering, asset management, and maintenance to become productive and healthy cultures for all. Lastly, we will provide tools and strategies for empowering employees to speak up and share their ideas. This is not your typical diversity and inclusion discussion that’s generally limited to HR. This is a tool to enable diversity and inclusion from within. Whether you’re a manager or team member, or just starting out in your career, this presentation will provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to build a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace.

We will be presenting a case study of why a new mobile Plant Maintenance application was required to replace their Agentry solution with the BlueWorx Plant Maintenance solution for their 1900 technicians at a large oil & gas organization in Canada. The need was to improve: executing work orders, raise notifications, execute proper inspections of their assets and equipment to meet their requirements and utilizing GIS to geo spatially locate work. One of the most important reasons on deciding to displace the Agentry solution is to help alleviate their previous cumbersome and frustrating process of slow transmit times and cryptic errors to a faster sync time combines with an administrator tool that’s an easy-to-follow guided process, to correct any processing error that the technician will encounter on a daily basis, to achieve more accurate data recorded to the backend. The pain points they faced were not having the ability to carry out and do inspections in an efficient manner, major transmit fails because of the non-ability to upload large data points and cryptic errors messages. The key driver for the client is the ability to easily enhance the out of box functionality to suit their business model and needs. This also gave them enhanced field capabilities and access digital documentation to assist in their daily tasks. We will showcase the implementation approach, associated project deliverables and ingredients to making this a success for both the customer and S4A IT Solutions. This was all achieved during an unprecedented pandemic which forced us to deliver this project from many continents, all while being delivered fully remote. What was to be achieved of the new solution? The solution helped transform and improve not only their current in-adequate maintenance solution, but also helped culturally shift, across multiple business units, a non engaged workforce into a fully engaged, collaborative team which resulted in increased efficiency. The new solution has transformed business processes into a paperless workflow to help with waste reduction, regulatory compliance, tool time productivity, downtime reduction and enhanced data driven decision making.

This presentation is a holistic approach to precision machinery installation. We all know very well that the installation has direct impact on the performance and the operating life of the rotating equipment. In my presentation first I speak about the importance of standardization of the installation procedures based on existing standards such as API, ISO, NORSOK, ASME and ANSI. Second I speak about the importance of trainings in Installation procedures and the culture of teaching and sharing the knowledge among the team members including the suppliers. And finally the importance of documentation. The collection and transfer of data during the installation phase, though Commissioning and Site testing and then handing over the equipment to the Operations. I also provide a suggestion how to improve and optimize the installation work.

In 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic gripped the world, the foundations of business operations shifted instantly. With ripple effects continuing today, organizations continue to strive to adapt to the changing landscape. In these times, the principles and practices of asset management are more critical than ever and can be a framework for embedding resiliency. This presentation will delve into the relationship between asset management principles and three focus areas impacted by COVID, while sharing real life examples from water and wastewater operations. First, we will explore how facility lockdowns and supply chain disruptions impacted equipment repair parts availability. We will dive into how facilities with strong critical spare parts management techniques weathered these disruptions with less panic and time spent chasing parts. And, how techniques such as predictive maintenance programs and planning scheduling better accommodated longer lead times before equipment intervention was required. Second, we will discuss what happens when only a few individuals own the asset management program and they are suddenly absent for health or family support obligations for an extended period. We will interconnect how building a strong ownership of asset management across disciplines and embedding processes and procedures ensures a lasting culture of asset management. Finally, lockdowns and travel bans forced our team to explore new methods for deploying technical support without onsite visits. Innovative approaches from virtually facilitated risk review workshops to augmented reality condition assessments have been developed and implemented over the past year. With advancements in technology, as the accumulation of data grows there has been a concentrated effort to leverage this data toward making data-justified decisions. Over the past year there has also been an increasing emphasis to leverage these analyses to bring decision teams to agreement as managers and client interact virtually. With an interdependent global economy it is only a matter of time until the next disruption hits, and implementing the core principles of asset management can enhance the resiliency of your organization.
