City of Calgary’s Facilities Team Receives PEMAC Maintenance Team of the Year Award

Mississauga (October 22, 2024) – PEMAC Asset Management Association of Canada recognized the City of Calgary’s Facilities team with the 2024 Maintenance Management Team of the Year (Large Organization) Award, during its recent PEMAC Awards ceremony held in Saint John, New Brunswick as part of the MainTrain conference. The ceremony celebrated excellence in the maintenance, reliability and asset management profession.

Team awards in both asset management and maintenance management provide an opportunity for groups across Canada to share their professional achievements along their journey towards excellence. The Maintenance Team of the Year honours two categories with the small and large organization awards.

The Awards Committee noted The City’s Facilities team had steady and sustained high performance over several years, while continuing to drive improvements with technology and processes.

“This team has demonstrated a consistent effort with the support of leadership; critical when making changes in a very large organization. Standardizing practices across different departments and the centralization of the maintenance of facilities structure are key factors which have led to the City of Calgary’s success. Maintenance teams are encouraged to share their successes across departments to realize benefits across the organization,” reports Jim Reyes-Picknell, member of the PEMAC Awards Committee.

“This transformative journey our team has embarked on has immeasurably enhanced the quality of our maintenance program and boosted staff morale. This award has provided us with a wonderful opportunity to reflect on our achievements and look forward to the goals we have set for ourselves, states Jennifer Ouyang, Preventative Maintenance Lead, Facilities, City of Calgary.

“I would like to thank PEMAC for this award, which allows us to recognize and celebrate the hard work our teams have dedicated to developing a completely revised and expanded preventative maintenance program for the City of Calgary,” says Ouyang, “Looking ahead, I see many more great accomplishments on the horizon for our team and am proud of what we have achieved so far.”

“The unwavering support from our senior leaders allowed our team the opportunity to put forward ideas. Without their trust and guidance, our team wouldn’t be at this stage. Finally, I want to thank the amazing and high-performing Preventative Maintenance Team at The City of Calgary. They are intelligent, hardworking, energetic, and creative. As I look to the future, I see many more great accomplishments ahead and am proud of what we have achieved to date,” added Ms. Ouyang.
