Report on Alberta Chapter Breakfast - April 30th

Category:

On April 30th, 52 people came out to the Alberta Chapter Breakfast with guest speakers David McKeown from the Institute of Asset Management in the UK and John Hardwick from the Asset Management Council in Australia.

David and John offered some insight into the history of the development of ISO 5500x which was getting finishing touches that week in Calgary. In addition they offered a preview of some of the concepts that are being written into the ISO and the challenges of working with 80 delegates from many countries to agree on core concepts. The attendees got some insight into the framework and purpose of the ISO as well as some key definitions that have emerged.

The main focus of the discussion was on the fact that the ISO will be an important tool to help organizations derive business benefit, through excellence in Asset Management. However that tool will only be effective within a corporate culture that is sincerely striving for improvement.

The Alberta Chapter would once again like to thank Bow Valley College for hosting the meeting with a great, and conveniently located space in their newly renovated facility. And of course a big thank you to our special guests, David McKeown and John Hardwick.

If you missed this event, please note that David and John will be back in Calgary with other international guests in November when PEMAC hosts the Global Forum on Maintenance and Asset Management meeting in conjuction with MainTrain 2013. http://www.maintrain.ca
