MMP vs Other Certifications?

Category:

In May PEMAC became a member of the Global Forum on Maintenance and Asset Management (GFMAM), an international association of associations like ours. One of the objectives of the (GFMAM) is to facilitate the exchange and alignment of maintenance and asset management knowledge and practices. Towards this aim the Certification Project has been initiated to research the certification schemes managed by GFMAM member professional associations, compare and describe them.

The executive summary from our point of view is that PEMAC's Maintenance Management Professional certification targets the same types of knowledge and level of responsibility as the "Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional" administered by the "Society of Maintenance and Reliability Professionals" (SMRP) from the United States as well as the "European Expert in Maintenance Management" (EFNMS) administered by the "European Federation of National Maintenance Societies". Though similar in what they represent a person knows and can do, the systems used by each association for developing and assessing competence differ. PEMAC has defined a training program whereas the other two societies have identified a body of knowledge and set exams leaving training development to other providers.

An overview of the Certification Project results to date and a detailed presentation of the complete list of member certifications was published today on the on the GFMAM News page. You can learn more here: http://gfmam.org/news.html
